Algiers, December 18, 2025 – Air Algérie is set to expand its network with the introduction of new routes and the resumption of others in the first quarter of next year, according to an announcement made by the airline’s CEO, Hamza Benhamouda.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council held at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Center yesterday, Benhamouda revealed that the Algiers-Budapest route, with a stopover in Vienna, will commence operations in the spring of 2026. This new connection aims to facilitate travel and strengthen economic ties between Algeria and Central Europe.
Furthermore, the CEO announced the reactivation of the Johannesburg route, scheduled to begin next year. Following the resumption of service to South Africa, Air Algérie plans to reinstate flights to Addis Ababa and Kuala Lumpur, further expanding its reach across the African continent and into Southeast Asia.
“These strategic additions to our network reflect Air Algérie’s commitment to providing enhanced connectivity and supporting Algeria’s economic growth,” Benhamouda stated. He emphasized the importance of these routes in facilitating trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
Yesterday’s General Assembly of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, held at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Center, saw the participation of the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, as well as the President of the Council, Kamel Moula, and members of the organization. During the assembly, Kamel Moula was re-elected as President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council for a second term.
The expansion plans announced by Air Algérie are expected to contribute significantly to the country’s economic development and strengthen its position as a regional hub for air travel.
