Algiers, December 18, 2025 – The University of Health Sciences “Mujahid Dr. Youssef El-Khatib” has entered into a collaborative agreement with Johns Hopkins University of the United States. The agreement aims to bolster scientific cooperation and facilitate the exchange of expertise between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed yesterday, Wednesday, in Algiers by Merzack Ghernaout, Director of the University of Health Sciences, and Todd Shepherd, the authorized representative of Johns Hopkins University.
On this occasion, Ghernaout hailed the signing as “a distinguished scientific event and a strategic step reflecting the shared will of both parties to enhance the exchange of experiences, develop scientific research, and elevate the academic medical training for students, professors, and researchers to higher levels.” He emphasized that the agreement seeks to encourage joint research projects and knowledge transfer, considering investment in human capital as “the optimal path” to achieving sustainable development.
Shepherd noted that this is the first agreement of its kind with an Algerian university, describing it as “an important step of great symbolic and scientific value.” He expressed his hope that the areas of cooperation will expand to include other Algerian universities in the humanities and social sciences, as well as the exact sciences.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening international collaboration in health sciences and research.
