Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune recently visited a major trade exhibition showcasing the latest advancements in Algerian national and military industries. The visit highlighted the government’s commitment to bolstering domestic production and achieving industrial self-sufficiency.
The President inaugurated the new exhibition pavilion at the Palais des Expositions des Pins Maritimes, symbolically named ‘Palestine Pavilion’ to underscore Algeria’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He received detailed briefings on the pavilion’s design, purpose, and role in promoting economic and institutional participation from the Director-General of the Algerian Company of Fairs and Exports (SAFEX).
President Tebboune also received a comprehensive presentation from the Minister of Internal Trade and Regulation of the National Market. The presentation detailed the distribution of the national economic fabric, the performance of economic operators in the goods and services production sector, and the level of participation of Algerian institutions and companies.
A key stop on the tour was the pavilion of the Ministry of National Defense. Here, the President received in-depth explanations about the latest developments in national military industries, particularly in the manufacturing of combat vehicles, weapon systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles. These advancements are part of a broader effort to enhance national capabilities and strengthen industrial sovereignty.
The President also visited the Khenchela Mechanical Construction Establishment, specializing in the production of light weapons, and examined its newest products, including the semi-automatic rifle, a significant achievement for the Algerian military industry. He further inspected the Central Supply Base of the First Military Region, where he was briefed on the battery manufacturing process and modern energy technologies, aligning with development and innovation requirements.
Concluding his visit, President Tebboune stopped at the vehicle equipment renovation establishment affiliated with the Ministry of National Defense. He observed the progress in the production of refrigeration units, which are experiencing notable growth to meet the needs of army units and achieve self-sufficiency. This visit underscores the President’s ongoing monitoring of efforts to strengthen national production, support strategic industries, and promote economic participation to serve development goals.
