Bank of Algeria Official Clarifies Travel Allowance Status

Algiers – The Deputy Governor of the Bank of Algeria, Mohamed Ben Bahan, has firmly addressed recent speculation regarding the continuity of the travel allowance. He asserted that the allowance will remain available throughout the year, dismissing rumors of its suspension.

Speaking earlier today on national radio, Ben Bahan emphasized that claims of a December cutoff for the travel allowance are unfounded. He stated that the disbursement of the allowance will continue as normal and is not subject to seasonal schedules or temporary decisions.

Ben Bahan highlighted the extensive banking network across the country, comprising over 1800 branches distributed throughout the various provinces. This network, he explained, ensures that citizens can open bank accounts and access the travel allowance smoothly and without obstacles.

The Deputy Governor further clarified that the travel allowance is valid for a full year, specifically from July 2025 to July 2026. He reiterated that each citizen is entitled to benefit from the allowance only once during this period. He definitively stated that there will be no suspension of the allowance in December, as some reports have suggested.

Ben Bahan concluded by reaffirming that any citizen with a bank account is eligible to receive the travel allowance in accordance with existing regulations, without any changes or exceptions.
