Russian Naval Detachment Docks in Algiers for Four-Day Visit

Algiers, December 18, 2025 – A Russian naval detachment has arrived at the port of Algiers today, marking a significant moment in Algerian-Russian military cooperation. The detachment, comprising the submarine ‘Krasnodar’ and the naval rescue tug ‘Altay,’ is scheduled for a four-day stopover.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of National Defense, this visit falls under the framework of the Algerian-Russian military cooperation program for the year 2025. This ongoing collaboration aims to strengthen ties and foster mutual understanding between the two nations’ armed forces.

During the stopover, the mission commander and his accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to the commander of the Central Maritime Front at the naval base headquarters in Algiers. Discussions centered on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise between the Algerian and Russian navies. Both sides expressed their commitment to deepening the existing partnership.

The program for the visit includes reciprocal visits between officers from the Algerian naval forces and the Russian detachment’s crew. These interactions will facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experience in the maritime field. Furthermore, a series of cultural and tourist activities have been organized for the Russian crew members, providing them with an opportunity to experience Algerian culture and hospitality.
