Cairo, Egypt – Algeria and Tanzania have agreed to enhance cooperation across several vital sectors, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations. The agreement was reached during discussions held in Cairo between Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, and Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mohamed Thabit Kombo.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second African-Russian Partnership Forum at the ministerial level. Minister Attaf is currently in Cairo participating in the forum.
The discussions, which were also attended by Tanzanian Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Palamagamba Kabudi, provided an opportunity for a comprehensive review of the existing cooperation between Algeria and Tanzania. Both sides explored avenues to inject new dynamism into the relationship, aiming to unlock the full potential of both nations.
Key areas of focus for enhanced partnership include the pharmaceutical industry, transportation, tourism, and the energy sector. The goal is to foster mutual benefits and propel economic and investment cooperation to new heights.
At the conclusion of the talks, both parties committed to convening the next session of the Joint Economic Cooperation Committee. This commitment underscores the shared political will to deepen bilateral cooperation and translate agreements into tangible projects that contribute to the development of both Algeria and Tanzania.
This agreement signifies a renewed commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between African nations.
