Mila, Algeria – December 20, 2025 – The body of a young boy, identified as Ayoub B., who had been reported missing, was tragically discovered this morning. Civil Protection services located the child’s remains in a water basin approximately 50 meters from his family home in Douar Ben Zakri, Ain Tine municipality, Mila province.
According to a statement released by the Mila Civil Protection directorate, the body of three-year-old Ayoub was found at 8:19 AM floating on the surface of the water in a basin with a depth of approximately 30 centimeters. The discovery brings a somber end to the search efforts that began yesterday.
The search operation, which commenced on December 19, 2025, at 3:52 PM, was conducted under the supervision of the Governor of Mila and in the presence of civil and military authorities, as well as the Director of Civil Protection. The focus of the search was the Douar Ben Zakri area of Ain Tine municipality.
A significant deployment of resources was involved in the search. The Civil Protection services mobilized 45 personnel of various ranks, drawn from the Mila main unit and secondary units in El Kerroum Ghougga, Sidi Merouane, Oued Endja, Ferdjioua, and the advanced center of Beni Haroun. Specialized teams, including a canine unit with trained search dogs and a diving unit, were also deployed to assist in the operation.
The circumstances surrounding Ayoub’s disappearance and death are currently under investigation. This tragic event has deeply affected the local community.
