Israeli Forces Strike Rafah, Khan Younis; Buildings Demolished

Israeli military forces conducted strikes on multiple areas within the Gaza Strip on Saturday, including Rafah and the Maghazi refugee camp. Simultaneously, demolition operations targeting buildings were carried out in Khan Younis, located in the southern region of the territory. These actions come amidst ongoing concerns regarding adherence to ceasefire agreements.

Initial reports indicate that two Palestinians were allegedly targeted for crossing what the Israeli military refers to as the “Yellow Line.” Medical and emergency sources report that at least two individuals sustained injuries from Israeli fire emanating from outside the areas where Israeli forces are deployed, specifically east of the Maghazi camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Reports from Gaza detail that Israeli forces shelled locations within their areas of deployment in Gaza City, Rafah, and the Bureij camp. Furthermore, a large-scale demolition operation was executed in areas under Israeli control east of Khan Younis. Witnesses reported hearing loud explosions accompanied by thick plumes of smoke, coinciding with artillery shelling and intense gunfire from tanks east of the aforementioned “Yellow Line.”

In the northern Gaza Strip, funeral processions were held for seven Palestinians who died following Israeli artillery fire targeting a building housing displaced persons outside the areas where Israeli forces are deployed, in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City.

The Israeli military has stated that its forces in northern Gaza identified two armed individuals crossing the “Yellow Line” and posing an immediate threat. According to the Israeli statement, air forces, directed by the infantry brigade, neutralized the individuals. The army maintains that its forces are deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to eliminate any direct threats.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem asserted that the Israeli shelling of a shelter center in Gaza City, located outside the “Yellow Line,” constitutes a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement. Qassem called on mediators to take immediate action to halt Israeli violations. Hamas reiterated its demand for mediators and Washington to intervene immediately to curb what it describes as attempts by the Netanyahu government to impose conditions that contradict the agreement. The movement condemned the shelling of a school housing displaced persons in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood as a crime and a clear, repeated breach of the ceasefire agreement.
