Attaf Attends Libya Neighbor States Meeting in Cairo

Cairo, Egypt – Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs, participated in a coordination meeting of foreign ministers from the Tripartite Mechanism of Libya’s Neighboring Countries (Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia) held in Cairo this Saturday.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second session of the African-Russian Partnership Forum at the ministerial level. The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Attaf’s participation in a statement released earlier this evening.

This coordination meeting underscores the ongoing commitment of Algeria, alongside Egypt and Tunisia, to actively contribute to a stable and secure Libya. The Tripartite Mechanism serves as a platform for these neighboring countries to align their efforts and initiatives aimed at fostering a peaceful resolution to the Libyan crisis.

Discussions during the meeting are expected to have focused on strategies for promoting dialogue among Libyan parties, supporting the electoral process, and addressing security challenges that threaten regional stability. The ministers also likely explored ways to enhance economic cooperation and address humanitarian concerns within Libya.

Algeria has consistently emphasized the importance of a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process, free from external interference. Minister Attaf’s presence in Cairo reaffirms Algeria’s dedication to working collaboratively with its neighbors to achieve lasting peace and stability in Libya.

Further details regarding the specific outcomes of the meeting are expected to be released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the coming days.
