Algiers, December 21, 2025 – National Gendarmerie units have successfully dismantled a criminal network involved in the illicit drug trade, seizing a significant quantity of cocaine and processed cannabis.
According to a statement released by the Gendarmerie, the operation resulted in the confiscation of over 56 kilograms of cocaine and 260 kilograms of processed cannabis, along with the vehicles used for transportation. Nine suspects have been apprehended, while the identities of twelve additional suspects, who remain at large, have been established.
The operation also led to the seizure of a substantial amount of cash in local currency, exceeding 500 million centimes. In addition, mobile phones, bladed weapons, a binocular, forged registration cards, and driver’s licenses were recovered.
Notably, the seized cocaine is reported to have a high concentration level, reaching approximately 70 percent purity. The source further indicated that the suspects have been presented before the Public Prosecutor at the National Penal Pole for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime in Sidi M’Hamed.
The dismantling of this network represents a significant blow to drug trafficking operations in the region and underscores the ongoing efforts of the National Gendarmerie to combat organized crime.
