Minister Urges Acceleration of Infrastructure Projects Nationwide

The Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djelloul, chaired the weekly meeting dedicated to monitoring the progress of infrastructure projects across the country. The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, focused on evaluating the pace of ongoing projects and identifying areas for improvement.

According to a statement from the ministry, detailed presentations were given on the advancements of major projects in various sectors. These included the development, maintenance, and modernization of the road network, particularly in the provinces of Algiers, Djelfa, Batna, Tissemsilt, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Timimoun, and Ain Guezzam. The discussions also covered the maintenance of the highway network, including addressing black spots on the East-West highway and the second bypass of the capital, as well as ongoing highway projects and airport facilities, especially in the southern regions.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the railway and guided transport program, along with training initiatives within the sector. Minister Djelloul issued a series of directives emphasizing the need for meticulous monitoring of all projects. He stressed the importance of intensified field visits by central officials and the implementation of practical measures to expedite project completion. He also called for enhanced coordination with construction companies, offering support to resolve any on-site obstacles that may arise, ensuring accelerated progress and adherence to deadlines, while maintaining quality and technical standards.

The Minister underscored the importance of strengthening coordination with various relevant sectors to ensure the readiness of major strategic projects within the set timelines. He also highlighted the importance of launching the sector’s projects planned for 2026 across all provinces of the country, ensuring their regular and immediate monitoring through the sector’s digital portal. The focus remains on delivering efficient and high-quality infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens.
