Algeria and Kazakhstan Explore Pharmaceutical Partnership

Algeria and Kazakhstan are exploring avenues to strengthen their bilateral partnership in the pharmaceutical industry. The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Kouideri, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Algeria, Anuarbek Akhmetov, at the ministry headquarters on Monday to discuss enhanced cooperation.

According to a statement from the ministry, the meeting served as an opportunity to review prospects for developing the Algerian-Kazakh partnership in the pharmaceutical sector. Both parties exchanged views on ways to expand collaboration, particularly in the areas of drug production, exchange of expertise and experiences, and cooperation in the field of alternative medicine.

Kazakhstan is considered a leading country in herbal medicine, a key area of interest for both nations. The discussions focused on leveraging Kazakhstan’s expertise in this domain to benefit Algeria’s healthcare sector.

Minister Kouideri expressed Algeria’s readiness to export locally manufactured pharmaceutical products to the Kazakh market. He also highlighted the potential for manufacturing essential medicines in Algeria to meet the needs of Kazakhstan and neighboring markets, positioning Algeria as a regional hub for the pharmaceutical industry.

Both parties emphasized the importance of intensifying coordination to benefit from Kazakh expertise in alternative medicine and exchanging scientific and technical knowledge to develop this field in accordance with approved health standards.

The two sides agreed to intensify consultations and organize future meetings to implement the agreements reached and establish practical mechanisms to enhance bilateral cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, serving the common interests of both countries. This partnership aims to foster innovation and ensure access to quality medicines for both Algerian and Kazakh citizens.
