Minister Tashrift Welcomes Diaspora Children to Algiers

Algiers, December 22, 2025 – Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tashrift, welcomed a group of children from the Algerian diaspora to the National Museum of the Mujahid this Monday. This visit is part of the ‘Journey of Memory’ program, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders.

The children began their visit with a tour of the museum’s various halls, learning about key periods in Algerian history and national symbols. They also viewed the film ‘Saquia,’ a human story inspired by the events of Sakiet Sidi Youssef.

Minister Tashrift presented the visiting children with symbolic gifts and souvenirs at the conclusion of their visit. He emphasized the importance of connecting young Algerians abroad with their heritage and national identity.

The ‘Journey of Memory’ program, a joint initiative between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, includes a series of historical and cultural visits. These include tours of historical landmarks in Algiers, a visit to the Setif province on December 23rd and 24th, and a visit to the Blida province on December 25th to participate in planned activities.

The program also features the naming of a public garden in honor of the child martyr Omar Yassef, as well as visits to tourist sites, organized in coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life. The initiative aims to strengthen ties between Algeria and its diaspora, fostering a deeper understanding of Algerian history and culture among young generations abroad.
