Algiers, Algeria – Recent data reveals that Algiers is the second most affordable capital city in Africa for renters, according to the latest figures. The study, analyzing rental costs across the continent, places Algiers just behind Alexandria, Egypt, in terms of housing affordability.
The data, compiled from a leading cost of living index, indicates that Algiers boasts a rental index of 5.1. This figure demonstrates a relatively low cost of living compared to other major African capitals. Alexandria leads the rankings with an even lower index of 3.0, solidifying its position as the most affordable city for renters on the continent.
This ranking underscores Algiers’ position as an accessible housing market in North Africa. It surpasses Cairo, which has a rental index of 5.3. Other North African cities, such as Sousse (6.0) and Tunis (6.2) in Tunisia, also have higher rental indices, placing them behind Algiers in the African rankings.
