Algeria is exploring new investment opportunities with Chinese energy conglomerate Anton, signaling a potential expansion of their partnership in the hydrocarbon sector. Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, met with Anton’s CEO, Peter Pi, on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the ministry headquarters to discuss enhanced collaboration.
The meeting, which included the CEO of Sonatrach, Noureddine Daoudi, and the head of the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources, Samir Bekhti, focused on exploring avenues for joint ventures and developing cooperation between the two entities. Discussions centered on expanding partnerships across various hydrocarbon activities, including exploration, exploitation, and transportation. The potential for developing oil and gas fields, along with energy infrastructure projects and maintenance, were also key topics.
Emphasis was placed on adopting modern technologies to boost productivity and improve technical and economic efficiency. Anton’s representatives presented a detailed overview of their expertise and global activities in the oil and gas industry. In response, Minister Arkab outlined Algeria’s hydrocarbon sector development program, highlighting available investment opportunities and the advantages offered by the regulatory framework. He stressed the attractiveness of investing in Algeria and the encouragement of partnerships based on technology transfer and value creation.
Minister Arkab welcomed deeper technical and institutional consultations between Sonatrach, the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources, and Anton. The goal is to identify concrete areas for cooperation and study mutually beneficial investment projects. The CEO of Anton expressed the company’s keen interest in strengthening its presence in Algeria by launching practical and sustainable projects based on cutting-edge global technologies. These projects would contribute to the development of the national hydrocarbon sector through long-term partnerships built on the exchange of expertise and the achievement of common interests. This collaboration signifies Algeria’s commitment to attracting foreign investment and leveraging international expertise to enhance its energy sector.
