Heavy Snowfall Closes Key Roads in Bouira and Tizi Ouzou

Several national roads have been closed due to heavy snowfall, authorities have announced. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.

Recent severe weather, characterized by heavy snow and rainfall, has led to the closure of vital routes connecting the provinces of Bouira and Tizi Ouzou. These closures are primarily aimed at ensuring the safety of road users. Authorities are working diligently to clear the affected routes.

In Bouira province, the National Road 30, linking Bouira to Tizi Ouzou via the Tizi N’Kouilal area in the municipality of Saharidj, is currently impassable due to accumulated snow. Similarly, National Road 15 at Col Tirouda in Aghbalou municipality, and National Road 33 in the Tikjda area of Ibouchloul municipality, are also closed for the same reason.

The closures also affect Tizi Ouzou province, including National Road 33 at Asoul in Ait Boumahdi municipality, National Road 15 at Fadj Tirourda in Ifrahounane municipality, and National Road 30 at Tizi N’Kouilal in Iboudrarène municipality. The primary cause is heavy snow accumulation making passage dangerous.

While these routes are closed, authorities have confirmed that the remaining roads are open to traffic. Public works teams are actively working to remove snow and reopen the closed roads as quickly as possible.

Authorities are advising motorists to exercise extreme caution and avoid travelling in mountainous regions unless absolutely necessary. They are also urging the public to adhere to safety guidelines and stay updated on weather forecasts.
