Government Reviews Digitalization Law, Special Needs Education

Prime Minister Sifi Grib presided over a government meeting on Tuesday focused on key legislative initiatives. The meeting centered on a preliminary draft law concerning the general rules for the field of digitalization, and a draft executive decree related to specialized education for children with intellectual disabilities.

The digitalization law is considered a foundational step towards creating an effective, secure, and cohesive national digital ecosystem. It aims to establish a modern governance model based on comprehensive digitalization as the cornerstone of administrative performance in public affairs management. The draft law seeks to provide a solid legal framework to support the digital transition, ensuring its sustainability and effectiveness, and enabling Algeria to fully participate in the digital age.

The government also examined a draft executive decree outlining the conditions for establishing, organizing, operating, and monitoring private specialized education institutions for children with intellectual disabilities. This initiative aims to create and improve the organization and operation of private institutions. It also supports the implementation of Law No. 25-01, dated February 20, 2025, concerning the protection and promotion of persons with special needs.

The goal is to provide better care and contribute to strengthening state efforts to expand reception facilities for children with intellectual disabilities throughout the national territory. This decree reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive education and support for vulnerable populations.
