Algiers: Dismantling of a network importing spare parts and gold illegally

The Regional Division of the National Gendarmerie in Dar El Beïda, Algiers, has dismantled an organized criminal network involved in the smuggling and trading of car spare parts and precious metals imported illegally. According to a statement by the National Gendarmerie, the operation was carried out following confirmed information regarding individuals importing car spare parts and gold from abroad through illegal channels to resell them across various municipalities in the province of Algiers.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of foreign-made car spare parts of various types, 2.292 kg of gold, and 25 iPhones. Additionally, two passenger vehicles and sums of money in national and foreign currencies were seized, including 227 million centimes, 75 euros, and 280 Turkish liras, which are proceeds from the criminal activity. The total financial value of the seized items is estimated at more than 7 billion centimes.

Following the completion of all legal procedures, the suspects will be presented before the competent judicial authorities, and the seized spare parts and mobile phones will be handed over to the Customs Inspectorate.
