Ghana Lauds Algeria’s Leading Role in African Partnerships

Algiers, Algeria – Ghana has praised Algeria’s pivotal role in bolstering African partnerships and fostering continental unity. This commendation came during a meeting between Salima Bakhta Mansouri, Algeria’s Secretary of State in charge of African Affairs, and Abdulai Mohamed Barak, a former Ghanaian Member of Parliament and political activist.

Barak, currently on a tour of several African nations, met with Mansouri at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algiers on Tuesday. According to a statement released by the ministry, the visit aims to facilitate freedom of movement and enhance exchange and communication among African citizens.

The meeting emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among African nations, highlighting the necessity of continued efforts to strengthen continental cohesion and harmonize positions on shared issues. Discussions also touched upon the imperative of promoting African solutions to African problems.

Barak reiterated his support for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, referencing his recent visit to Sahrawi refugee camps in Tindouf. He emphasized that the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is the last colony in Africa and a founding member of the African Union.

He lauded Algeria’s leading role on the continent and acknowledged the Algerian authorities’ dedication to promoting African partnerships and projects, especially in areas of economic integration and trade development. He described Algeria as a key partner in achieving continental prosperity and stability.

The meeting concluded with Barak presenting Mansouri with a written message addressed to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and communication between Algeria and Ghana at the continental level. The message is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations and collaboration on key African initiatives.
