Algeria Hails Positive Outcomes of Military Cooperation with Tunisia

Algiers, December 24, 2025 – Algeria has lauded the “positive results” stemming from its ongoing military cooperation with Tunisia. The commendation follows a high-level meeting held in Algiers this week.

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Benbicha Mohamed Salah, received the Chief of Staff of the Tunisian Land Army, First Lieutenant General El Ghoul Mohamed, and his accompanying high-level military delegation, at the ministry headquarters.

According to a statement released by the Ministry, the meeting took place within the framework of Algeria hosting the 19th session of the joint Algerian-Tunisian committee responsible for monitoring and overseeing the implementation of military cooperation between the two nations. The session was held from December 21st to 25th, 2025.

During the meeting, bilateral discussions were held between the two sides. Present at the discussions was the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, in his capacity as head of the Algerian delegation to the joint Algerian-Tunisian committee, as well as the Director of Foreign Relations and Cooperation of the Ministry of National Defense, and members of the accompanying Tunisian delegation. The discussions focused on areas of mutual interest.

Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the distinguished and qualitative level reached by the cooperative relationship between the armies of the two brotherly countries. Emphasis was placed on the importance of continued collaboration in the face of regional security challenges.

Major General Benbicha Mohamed Salah highlighted the positive outcomes achieved in the field of military cooperation. He particularly valued the continuous and intensive coordination between the two countries in addressing various security threats, especially in the area of securing shared borders. This coordination aims to reduce the risks of terrorism, transnational organized crime, illegal immigration, smuggling in its various forms, and drug trafficking.

The ongoing cooperation underscores the commitment of both Algeria and Tunisia to maintaining stability and security within the region.
