Algiers, Algeria – The Entrepreneurship Support Agency (ESA) has reported significant progress in its efforts to bolster Algeria’s micro-enterprise sector. In the year since its revitalization, the agency has facilitated the creation of 6,500 micro-enterprises and provided training to 30,000 individuals across the country.
According to Director-General Bilal Achache, the ESA is playing a vital role in strengthening the network of micro-enterprises, which constitute approximately 97% of Algeria’s 1.3 million businesses.
Speaking on national radio, Achache highlighted the growing interest in the agency’s programs, particularly among graduates of vocational training programs. He noted that these graduates represent around 70% of project holders registered with the ESA, demonstrating the increasing importance of vocational training in fostering entrepreneurship.
The ESA aims to support the creation of 10,000 micro-enterprises annually. Achache emphasized the crucial role of industrial subcontracting, which currently accounts for 27% of the agency’s activities, as a key pathway for integrating micro-enterprises into the broader economy. The agency aspires to become a central driver of growth through localization programs and structured projects.
Furthermore, the ESA is developing a digital platform designed to serve as an open marketplace for economic data exchange and a promotional space for micro-enterprises. The platform already features over 4,562 registered businesses, with plans for further expansion.
The ESA’s initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to Algeria’s economic diversification and job creation efforts.
