DZWatch has received reports of weather alerts impacting a significant portion of Algeria. The National Meteorological Office issued warnings Thursday concerning heavy snowfall and torrential rainfall across numerous provinces.
A Level One (Yellow) alert for snowfall is in effect for the provinces of Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Bejaia, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, and Batna. This warning is valid from 9:00 PM Thursday until 6:00 AM Friday. Residents in these areas should prepare for potentially hazardous travel conditions.
Furthermore, a Level Two (Orange) alert, indicating a higher level of risk, has been issued for heavy rainfall in Ain Temouchent and Oran. Rainfall amounts are expected to range between 20 and 40 millimeters, with the alert remaining in place until 3:00 PM Thursday. Local authorities are advising residents to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.
An additional Level One (Yellow) alert warns of thunderstorms and heavy rain impacting a wide swathe of the country. This alert is valid from 6:00 AM Thursday to 6:00 AM Friday. The provinces affected include, but are not limited to: Algiers, Sidi Bel Abbes, Souk Ahras, Tipaza, El Oued, Tissemsilt, Laghouat, Relizane, Bejaia, Ghardaia, M’Sila, Tiaret, Mila, Oum El Bouaghi, Tebessa, Guelma, Tizi Ouzou, Chlef, Batna, Mostaganem, Annaba, Setif, Djelfa, Tlemcen, Constantine, Skikda, Jijel, Khenchela, Medea, Biskra, El Tarf, Naama, Boumerdes, Bouira, Mascara, Blida, and Bechar.
