Algiers, December 25, 2025 – The legacy and ideals of the late President Houari Boumediene continue to serve as a guiding light for Algeria, according to the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tachrifet. Speaking today at a commemoration ceremony marking the 47th anniversary of Boumediene’s death in Guelma, the Minister emphasized the enduring impact of the former leader’s vision.
Tachrifet described Boumediene’s era as a pioneering chapter in Algeria’s struggle for freedom and independence. He stated that Boumediene’s leadership garnered support from allies and respect from adversaries, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to inspire generations of Algerians with a sense of pride and belonging. “His experience earned, in its time, the support of friends and the respect of opponents, and its radiance remains bright, attracting the attention of successive generations, and instilling in their souls the meanings of pride and belonging,” he noted.
The Minister highlighted Boumediene’s roadmap for rebuilding the Algerian state, a plan rooted in the spirit of the revolution, ensuring fidelity to the sacrifices of the martyrs, and striving to realize the noble goals of the November 1, 1954 Declaration. He stressed that Boumediene’s positions and achievements remain a sacred trust and a profound responsibility for the nation.
“President Boumediene’s positions and achievements will remain a trust in our necks, a sacred sanctity in the conscience of the nation,” Tachrifet affirmed. He further emphasized the need to emulate the virtues and values of Algeria’s great figures through unity, collective effort, and a heightened sense of responsibility, to forge a path towards a brighter future with hope and determination.
Minister Tachrifet also noted that under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria is renewing its commitment to the martyrs’ legacy and strengthening intergenerational dialogue. This is within the framework of a concept of a victorious Algeria that seeks to revive and complete the pioneering experiences of the Algerian nation and continue the constructive national project in response to the aspirations and legitimate ambitions of the Algerian people.
