The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, has emphasized the need for rigorous oversight of private educational institutions. Speaking before the Council of the Nation, the Minister stated that recent monitoring efforts have revealed concerning trends within the private education sector.
Saadaoui highlighted that some owners of private schools are treating education as a purely commercial activity. This, he argued, negatively impacts the pedagogical process and the overall quality of education provided. The Minister specifically cited instances where this profit-driven approach has led to significant pedagogical shortcomings.
“We’ve observed instances of manipulation and falsification of student results,” Saadaoui stated. He stressed that such practices undermine the credibility of the education system and necessitate increased scrutiny and robust monitoring by education inspectors. The Ministry, he affirmed, will not tolerate any actions that compromise the integrity of the national education system and the value of national diplomas.
The Minister assured that inspection services will continue to perform their duties diligently, ensuring strict adherence to educational curricula and regulations governing private educational institutions. The Ministry is committed to safeguarding the educational system and ensuring that private schools operate within the bounds of the law.
Saadaoui further explained that the education sector will continue its reforms to rectify these imbalances and ensure that private schools remain spaces for education and learning, not merely profit-making ventures. The ultimate goal, he stressed, is to serve the best interests of the students and maintain the quality of education across all institutions. The Ministry is determined to ensure a level playing field and uphold the standards of education throughout the country.
