Recovered Industrial Units: Integrated Economic Project

The revitalization of recovered industrial units is more than just restarting dormant operations; it represents a comprehensive economic project, according to Minister of Industry Yahia Bachir. The Minister made this assertion during a working visit to the Guelma province on Thursday.

Speaking at the Eastern Grain and Canned Goods branch in El Fedjoudj, formerly part of the Omar Ben Omar Group and now under the Agro-div Food Industries Holding Company, Bachir emphasized the government’s strong commitment to transforming recovered industrial assets into genuine drivers of production. He stated that this transformation will be based on sound governance principles.

The Minister highlighted that inspecting six recovered industrial units in the province, all linked to corruption cases, is part of the Ministry’s field-based approach. This approach, he explained, aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to revive national industry on solid economic foundations. The goal is to strengthen the industry’s role in wealth creation, job creation, and achieving industrial and food security.

Bachir noted that the task of reviving these recovered units in Guelma, specializing in food processing industries, has been entrusted to the public industrial group Agro-div. This is to ensure a regular supply of raw materials, adherence to quality and food safety standards, and connection of these units to distribution networks and national markets.

After receiving a detailed presentation on the industrial sector in the province, which comprises 89 industrial production units (10 belonging to the public sector), the Minister stated that certain strategic industrial units, such as CYCMA, the motorcycle and bicycle production unit, are receiving special attention. He views CYCMA as a model for the potential development of a competitive national mechanical industry.

During his visit to the CYCMA plant in the provincial capital, the Minister received a presentation on the company’s revival plan and toured various workshops involved in the production of bicycles, tricycles, and motorcycles for people with special needs. The visit underscores the government’s commitment to supporting and revitalizing key industrial assets across the nation.
