DZWatch Exclusive: Several Algerian provinces are bracing for a period of significant weather disturbances, including thunderstorms and heavy snowfall, starting Friday. The national meteorological services have issued a level-one warning for numerous regions across the country.
Thunderstorms are anticipated to affect the provinces of El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Bejaia, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Algiers, Tipaza, Chlef, Souk Ahras, Guelma, Constantine, Mila, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Bouira, Tebessa, Oum El Bouaghi, Khenchela, Batna, M’Sila, Biskra, Medea, Ain Defla, Ouled Djellal, El M’Ghair, and El Oued.
Furthermore, heavy snowfall is predicted in the provinces of Batna, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Bouira, and Tizi Ouzou. Authorities are advising residents to exercise caution, as the snowfall may lead to hazardous driving conditions, particularly in mountainous areas. Motorists are urged to check weather forecasts and road conditions before traveling.
In addition to the rain and snow, freezing temperatures are expected to persist in Khenchela, Batna, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Djelfa, Laghouat, El Bayadh and Naama. Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions against the cold weather, including dressing warmly and ensuring adequate heating in their homes.
