Algiers, December 26, 2025 – The National Meteorology Office has issued a weather alert for several regions across the country, forecasting heavy rainfall, significant snowfall, and a drop in temperatures. The alert, categorized as Level 1 (Yellow), indicates a period of heightened weather activity requiring public awareness.
The affected regions can expect moderate to heavy rainfall. The following provinces are under the rainfall advisory: Algiers, Sidi Bel Abbes, Souk Ahras, Tipaza, Tissemsilt, Laghouat, Relizane, Tiaret, Mila, Oum El Bouaghi, Tebessa, Guelma, Mostaganem, Annaba, Ain Temouchent, Djelfa, Tlemcen, Constantine, Skikda, El Bayadh, Jijel, Biskra, El Tarf, Saida, Boumerdes, Mascara, and Oran.
In addition to the rainfall, several provinces are bracing for snowfall. The Meteorology Office predicts accumulations of up to 15 centimeters in the following regions: Setif, Batna, Khenchela, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Bordj Bou Arreridj, and M’Sila.
Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions. Authorities are also urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and to exercise caution on the roads.
Furthermore, a cold snap is expected to grip several provinces, including El Bayadh, Laghouat, Djelfa, Khenchela, Batna, Setif, and Bordj Bou Arreridj. The public is advised to take measures to protect themselves from the cold, especially vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.
