DZWatch Exclusive: Recent adverse weather conditions have led to the closure of several roads across Algeria, according to the National Gendarmerie. Significant snowfall has particularly impacted the provinces of Tizi Ouzou and Bouira, causing disruptions to travel.
In Bouira province, the National Road 33, a key route connecting Bouira and Tizi Ouzou, is currently closed. The affected areas include Ikoukar in the municipality of Bechloul and Tikjda in the municipality of El Esnam. The accumulation of snow has rendered these sections impassable.
Tizi Ouzou province is also experiencing significant road closures. National Road 33 is blocked at Asoul, within the municipality of Ait Boumahdi, due to heavy snowfall. Furthermore, National Road 15, another vital link between Tizi Ouzou and Bouira, is closed at the Tizi N’Koullal area in the municipality of Ifrahounane.
Adding to the travel woes, National Road 30, connecting the same two provinces, is also closed at Tizi N’Koullal in the municipality of Iboudraren. Authorities attribute this closure to the same cause: substantial snow accumulation.
Motorists are advised to avoid these routes and seek alternative travel arrangements until further notice. DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. Stay tuned for the latest developments.
