Tamanrasset Poised to Become a Major Continental Industrial Hub

Tamanrasset, Algeria – Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamal Rezig, affirmed on Friday that the wilaya of Tamanrasset is set to become a prominent continental industrial hub, in addition to its role as a key gateway for Algerian goods destined for the African market.

Speaking to the media during the inauguration of the National Export Products Exhibition in Tamanrasset, Minister Rezig emphasized the strategic importance of the region. “Tamanrasset is Algeria’s southern gateway, and a crucial point for exporting and processing goods destined for the markets of Central African countries, which boast a significant population density,” he stated.

The Minister, who toured the exhibition’s pavilions, also underscored the necessity of attracting economic operators to participate in such events. This year’s exhibition features the participation of over 100 exhibitors, showcasing a diverse range of Algerian products.

“This economic event is of great importance as it contributes to highlighting the various national products that have reached a high degree of quality,” Rezig noted. He further commended the presence of locally manufactured products in Tamanrasset that are already being exported to neighboring countries, signaling the region’s growing industrial capabilities.

The government aims to transform Tamanrasset into a leading industrial center, capitalizing on its strategic location and abundant resources, to drive economic growth and boost Algeria’s presence in the African market. This initiative is part of a broader national strategy to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on hydrocarbons.
