Algiers – In a televised statement broadcast Friday evening, Aghur M’Henni, son of Ferhat M’Henni, the leader of the outlawed MAK separatist movement, publicly disavowed his father’s political positions and affirmed his unwavering commitment to Algerian national unity.
Speaking to state-owned Canal Algérie, Aghur M’Henni stated emphatically that his father’s actions and beliefs do not reflect his own. He expressed a desire to distance himself and his family from the controversial activities associated with his father.
“My father does not represent me, nor does he reflect my convictions,” Aghur M’Henni declared, appearing visibly moved.
