Two Die from Gas Inhalation in Tiaret Tragedy

Tiaret, Algeria – A tragic incident in Tiaret province has claimed the lives of two individuals due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The victims, aged 52 and 63, were discovered in the Al-Wad area of Serghine municipality.

Civil Protection services responded to an emergency call on Saturday, December 27, 2025, reporting two people suffering from gas inhalation. Upon arrival, first responders found the victims unresponsive. The source of the carbon monoxide was traced back to a faulty heating appliance.

“Our teams were dispatched immediately upon receiving the distress call,” stated a representative from the General Directorate of Civil Protection. “Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.”

The deceased were transported to the morgue at the local hospital for further examination. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the exact cause of the faulty heating appliance and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
