Algiers – Algeria has strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ recognition of Somaliland, considering it an illegitimate move that constitutes a serious infringement on the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Algeria emphasized that this action poses a direct threat to peace, security, and stability in the region. The statement stressed that this rejected and condemned measure is a blatant violation of the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, as well as the founding principles of the African continental system. Foremost among these principles is the prohibition of infringing upon the national borders of states, a principle enshrined by the Organization of African Unity and reaffirmed by the African Union as a cornerstone for maintaining peace, security, and stability on the continent.
In this context, Algeria reiterates its full and unwavering support for the Federal Republic of Somalia in the face of this direct threat and its serious implications for its security and stability, as well as the security and stability of the entire Horn of Africa region.
