Israeli Patrol Enters Quneitra Region in Southern Syria

An Israeli patrol entered the Quneitra region in southern Syria earlier today, marking another instance in a series of near-daily incursions into Syrian territory. The patrol was reported to have moved between the villages of Al-Msheirfeh and Umm Batna in the Quneitra countryside.

Local sources indicate that a separate Israeli patrol, consisting of approximately ten vehicles, advanced along the road connecting the town of Khan Arnabah and Jabat al-Khashab, located in the northern Quneitra countryside. This movement further underscores the escalating tensions in the region.

Earlier reports detailed an Israeli incursion into the village of Tranjeh, reaching the outskirts of Jabat al-Khashab. According to these accounts, a military force comprising six vehicles entered the area from the direction of Telloul al-Homr, passing through the region between Beit Jann and Hadar, before proceeding towards Tranjeh and subsequently Jabat al-Khashab.

These incidents follow reports from the previous day of Israeli forces firing medium machine guns from the western Tell al-Ahmar point towards the eastern Tell al-Ahmar in the southern Quneitra countryside.

The increased frequency of Israeli incursions into southern Syria, particularly in the Quneitra region, has been a growing concern. These operations have reportedly involved arrests and the establishment of checkpoints.

Following the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024, Israel declared the collapse of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement with Syria and has since occupied the Syrian buffer zone, expanding its presence beyond its original boundaries. Damascus continues to demand the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory, asserting that all actions taken in southern Syria are invalid and calling on the international community to deter Israeli practices and enforce a complete withdrawal, returning to the terms of the Disengagement Agreement.

The situation remains tense, with potential for further escalation.
