Algeria Condemns Israeli Recognition of Somaliland

Algiers, Algeria – Algeria has strongly condemned the recent recognition of Somaliland by Israel, labeling the move as an illegitimate act that undermines the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

In a statement released today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its profound disapproval of Israel’s decision, emphasizing that it constitutes a serious infringement upon Somalia’s territorial integrity and national unity.

“Algeria views this action with grave concern,” the statement read. “It represents a blatant disregard for international law and the established principles governing relations between sovereign states. We reaffirm our unwavering support for the Federal Republic of Somalia and its right to maintain its territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.”

The Ministry further asserted that the recognition of Somaliland could destabilize the region and exacerbate existing tensions. Algeria called upon the international community to uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia, and to refrain from any actions that could undermine its stability.

DZWatch will continue to monitor this developing situation and provide updates as they become available.
