Justice Minister Highlights Legal Security as Key to Economic Growth

Algiers – Minister of Justice, Dr. Lotfi Boujemaa, emphasized the crucial role of legal security in achieving justice and fostering economic development during the opening of the National Forum on Legal Security and its Impact on Economic Development. The Minister stated that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune places significant importance on the justice sector, ensuring support for a productive and open economy.

Dr. Boujemaa highlighted that this support reflects the state’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for economic actors and entrepreneurs, enabling them to transform challenges into opportunities and initiatives into productive and sustainable projects.

The National Forum, held under the theme “Legal Security and Economic Development,” underscores the vital link between protecting legal rights and promoting economic activity. The Minister stressed that this legal event reflects Algeria’s strategic position as a gateway to the Mediterranean and an open economic platform to the world. It also demonstrates the success of the development path through enhancing the position of national products both locally and internationally, and establishing a diverse and strong economic sovereignty.

The Minister also pointed to the directives of the penal policy, which focus on ensuring the quality of uniform application of laws across all judicial bodies. This facilitates the monitoring of managers of public economic institutions, whether industrial or commercial, in accordance with the provisions of the new Code of Criminal Procedure. He noted that this new law includes the commitment of social bodies to submit prior complaints and notify the supervisory authorities, thereby ensuring the protection of investments and achieving preventive justice.

Dr. Boujemaa further acknowledged the role of lawyers as reliable partners for economic operators, framing commercial transactions, ensuring the implementation of contracts and agreements, and providing accurate and effective legal services. He also emphasized the activation of commercial mediation to resolve disputes amicably, away from judicial complexities, which contributes to the stability of the business environment and enhances confidence in the legal system. This collaborative approach is considered essential for sustained economic progress in Algeria.
