UN Security Council to Convene Emergency Session on Somalia

The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency session in New York tomorrow, Monday, to address the political and legal ramifications of the Zionist entity’s recognition of what it refers to as “Somaliland.” The session was convened following an urgent request from the Federal Government of Somalia, which views the Zionist move as a deliberate attack on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

This development follows widespread condemnation from Arab, Islamic, and international bodies. The General Secretariat of the Arab League announced an emergency meeting of the League Council at the level of delegates today, Sunday, to discuss the implications of the Zionist entity’s declaration and to reject any unilateral actions or decisions that undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The Federal Government of Somalia reaffirmed on Friday its unwavering commitment to the country’s sovereignty and national unity. It categorically rejects the Zionist recognition of “Somaliland” as an independent state, asserting that the region is an integral part of its sovereign territory. The Somali government also emphasized its steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its rejection of any attempts to draw Somalia into proxy conflicts or to transfer regional and international disputes to its territory.

Somaliland, located in the northwestern part of Somalia, encompasses an area of 175,000 square kilometers. It unilaterally declared its independence in 1991 but has not been recognized by the international community. The emergency meeting at the UNSC highlights the escalating tensions and the potential for further instability in the region. The world awaits the outcome of tomorrow’s discussions with bated breath.
