Algeria Strengthens Fight Against Human Trafficking

Algiers, Algeria – December 28, 2025 – The Algerian Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the Center for Legal and Judicial Research, commenced a series of intensive study sessions today in Algiers, focusing on the legal framework for combating human trafficking and safeguarding victims’ rights. This initiative underscores Algeria’s commitment to bolstering its efforts against this heinous crime.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Justice, the study sessions will bring together approximately 100 participants, including judges, police officers, members of the National Committee for the Prevention and Fight Against Trafficking in Persons, experts from the central administration, and researchers from the Center for Legal and Judicial Research.

These sessions, scheduled to run until Tuesday, aim to enhance the capabilities of judges and law enforcement agencies in combating human trafficking and utilizing effective investigative techniques. A key focus will be on victim identification through a comprehensive approach that emphasizes crime prevention, the deterrence of perpetrators, victim protection and care, and the promotion of enhanced national and international cooperation and coordination.

The Ministry’s statement further emphasizes that all efforts will be conducted with full respect for human rights. This training is expected to significantly contribute to a more effective and humane response to human trafficking within Algeria.

This initiative represents a significant step forward in Algeria’s ongoing commitment to eradicating human trafficking and ensuring the protection and well-being of vulnerable individuals.
