Student-Business Partnership Forged to Boost Algerian Economy

Algiers – A new student-business partnership has been established between the National Organization of Free Students (NOFS) and the General Union of Algerian Traders and Craftsmen (UGCAA). The agreement was signed at the Sheraton Hotel in Algiers during the first ordinary session of the National Council, with the presence and support of the Minister of Domestic Trade and Regulation of the National Market, alongside representatives from official bodies and institutions.

The agreement was signed by Riyad Boukhabla, the National Secretary-General of NOFS, and Essam Badrissi, the Secretary-General and official spokesperson for UGCAA.

The partnership aims to establish a strategic framework for cooperation between the student sector and economic actors. It focuses on supporting students and those with start-up projects, promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and self-employment within universities, and providing guidance and training to students and graduates. This collaborative effort seeks to facilitate economic integration and boost self-employment opportunities.

The agreement also includes provisions for coordinating efforts between the two parties in organizing conferences, study days, training courses, and practical workshops. Furthermore, it opens avenues for collaboration in supporting student initiatives of a commercial and artisanal nature, ultimately serving local and national economic development.

This initiative aligns with national trends aimed at connecting universities with their economic environment and strengthening the role of student organizations as active partners in the development process. It embodies the principle of partnership between various actors within a participatory approach that benefits Algerian youth.
