Drug Bust in Oran: 50kg of Cannabis Seized

Oran, December 28, 2025 – National Gendarmerie services in Oran have dismantled a criminal network specializing in drug trafficking, seizing a significant quantity of cannabis. The operation, conducted in the commune of Es Senia, resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the confiscation of narcotics, cash, and a vehicle.

The investigation was initiated following credible intelligence indicating drug dealing activities within a neighborhood of Es Senia. After intensifying investigations and intelligence gathering, a carefully planned operation was launched, leading to the apprehension of three suspects aged between 25 and 37 years. All three are residents of Oran and were subject to arrest warrants.

During the operation, the National Gendarmerie seized approximately 50 kilograms of processed cannabis, commonly known as ‘Kif Muaalaj.’ Authorities also confiscated 25 million centimes in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales. A passenger vehicle used in the trafficking operation was seized along with several mobile phones.

DZWatch has learned that following the completion of all legal procedures, the suspects were presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Es Senia Court. They face charges including possession of processed cannabis for sale, offering for sale, acquisition and purchase for the purpose of sale, transportation, and transit by an organized criminal group, and forming a criminal association with the intent to commit a felony.

This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Oran to combat drug trafficking and organized crime within the region. The dismantling of this network represents a significant blow to drug distribution activities in the area.
