Algeria’s Social Security Goes Paperless, Boosts Digital Services

Algiers – Algeria’s social security system is undergoing a significant transformation, embracing a paperless approach and expanding its digital services for citizens. This move aims to streamline processes and improve accessibility to essential social security benefits.

According to a statement from the National Social Insurance Fund for Salaried Workers (CNAS) and the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, 27 previously required paper documents have been eliminated. These documents are now digitally accessible and shared electronically between relevant government agencies, effective this month.

This digitization initiative aligns with the government’s strategic vision to modernize public services and move away from traditional bureaucratic methods. The goal is to create a more efficient and citizen-centric system.

“Digital transformation is no longer just a technical option, but a strategic priority for the ministry and the social security sector,” stated a ministry representative. He emphasized that this shift is in line with directives from the highest authorities in the country, including the President, to modernize public administration.

The digitization process is progressing rapidly, focusing on enhanced coordination and information sharing between various ministry agencies and institutions. The implementation of interconnected information systems ensures the immediate exchange of data and administrative documents, fostering a smart administration that serves the citizens effectively.

The Ministry is committed to expanding online services and gradually eliminating long queues and traditional counters. This initiative is coupled with efforts to retrain personnel and instill a modern digital culture that meets the expectations of the public.

Furthermore, new services are being introduced for employers, including an automated contribution deduction system that allows for direct payment of contributions after declaring the contribution base, eliminating the need for checks.
