Algiers, Algeria – The National Meteorological Office has issued a weather alert, warning of a significant drop in temperatures and heavy rainfall expected to impact several regions across Algeria starting Tuesday. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions.
The alert, classified as Level One, indicates that thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are anticipated in the following provinces: El Tarf, Skikda, Jijel, Bejaia, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Algiers, Tipaza, Chlef, Mostaganem, Oran, Relizane, and Ain Temouchent. These areas should prepare for potential flooding and disruptions to daily activities.
In a related warning, the meteorological services also cautioned about a severe cold wave expected to grip several inland provinces. The provinces of Tebessa, Khenchela, Batna, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Djelfa, Laghouat, El Bayadh, and Naama are forecast to experience a significant drop in temperatures, potentially leading to hazardous conditions. Residents in these areas are advised to take measures to protect themselves from the cold, including wearing appropriate clothing and ensuring adequate heating.
