DZWatch Exclusive: The Ministry of National Education has partially reversed its decision to abolish the secondment of employees to education sector unions. Minister Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui has opted for a revised approach, maintaining the secondment system while significantly reducing the number of employees assigned to union organizations.
This move aims to recalibrate this sensitive issue, ensure the stability of the sector, and safeguard educational institutions. The decision follows an urgent meeting between Belamouri Gheliz, head of the National Council of Education Sector Employees for the SNAPAP union, and the Minister of National Education.
The meeting focused on the repercussions of the initial decision to abolish secondment and its impact on union activities within the sector. A clear agreement was reached to reduce the number of employees seconded to union organizations instead of a complete cancellation. This compromise seeks to balance administrative management requirements with the needs of union work, without disrupting the smooth operation of educational institutions.
Sources indicate that addressing various issues related to this matter will occur in the coming days, in accordance with established legal mechanisms, to serve the stability of the national education sector and enhance trust within its institutions. This decision is expected to positively impact the overall climate in the education sector, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to dialogue as a primary means of addressing sensitive professional issues, respecting legal frameworks, and ensuring the stability of the educational system.
The Ministry hopes this adjusted approach will foster a more collaborative environment and address concerns raised by various stakeholders within the education community.
