Cold Wave, Thunderstorms Hit Several Algerian Provinces

Algiers, Algeria – Several provinces across Algeria are experiencing significant weather disturbances today, marked by a cold wave and thunderstorms, according to the national meteorological services. The agency issued a weather alert for substantial rainfall and thunderstorms impacting numerous coastal and central provinces.

The affected regions include El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Bejaia, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Algiers, and Tipaza. Authorities warn that these conditions could lead to temporary traffic disruptions and elevated water levels in certain areas.

Conversely, the eastern, southeastern, and interior steppe regions are bracing for a severe cold wave. Exceptionally low temperatures are expected, particularly in the provinces of Tebessa, Khenchela, Batna, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Djelfa, Laghouat, El Bayadh, and Naama. Frost formation is anticipated during the morning and evening hours.
