Thunderstorms and Cold Snap to Hit Several Algerian Regions

Algiers, December 31, 2025 – The National Meteorology Office has issued a weather alert forecasting thunderstorms and a significant drop in temperatures across several wilayas.

The warning, released earlier today, Wednesday, indicates that the wilayas of El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Bejaia, Naama, Sidi Bel Abbes, and Tlemcen are expected to experience thunderstorms. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions.

Furthermore, the alert highlights that the wilayas of Tebessa, Khenchela, Batna, Mila, Djelfa, Tiaret, Laghouat, and El Bayadh are bracing for a cold snap, with extremely low temperatures anticipated throughout the day and night. This sharp decrease in temperature may pose risks to vulnerable populations.
