Thousands of revelers gathered in Lusail, north of Doha, on Wednesday evening to welcome the New Year. The atmosphere was festive, punctuated by spectacular fireworks displays that lit up the night sky. It was one of the most prominent events held in the country to mark the start of 2026.
The Lusail area witnessed a large turnout of families and visitors. Organizers facilitated easy access to the celebration sites via designated parking areas for each category of attendee, in addition to direct access via the Doha Metro.
New Year’s Eve celebrations in Doha varied. Some preferred to head to the Corniche to watch the fireworks displays for free amidst the crowds, while others chose to spend the evening in a more private setting by booking tables on the rooftops of hotels and restaurants overlooking the waterfront.
As 2026 began, Doha presented a celebratory scene that combined a global character with a local, family-friendly spirit. Events were spread between open gatherings on the waterfront and parties organized by five-star hotels, catering to different tastes and giving residents and visitors multiple options to celebrate the start of a new year. The city showcased its vibrant atmosphere and welcoming nature. The celebrations highlighted Qatar’s position as a global destination.
