Palestinian Killed, Dozens Arrested in West Bank Raids

A young Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces near Nablus on Thursday, amidst a series of raids and arrests across the West Bank. The incident occurred in the village of al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya, south of Nablus, according to reports.

The Palestinian man, identified as Khattab Muhammad Ismail Sarhan Daraghmeh, 26, succumbed to his injuries after being shot by Israeli forces near the southern entrance of the village, on the Nablus-Ramallah road. Another Palestinian was wounded and taken to a hospital in Salfit for treatment.

The Israeli military acknowledged responsibility for the death of Daraghmeh, stating that its forces opened fire on individuals allegedly throwing stones at soldiers. The claim could not be independently verified.

Widespread Arrests Across the West Bank

The raids extended beyond Nablus, with a significant number of arrests reported in other governorates. In the Tubas Governorate, Israeli forces detained four young men from the same family in the town of Tamun, following a raid on their homes. This followed a previous operation in Tubas and Tamun, bringing the total number of detainees from the area to eight.

In Jenin, Israeli forces continued their incursion into the town of Jaba’ for the second consecutive day. Several homes were raided, with one reportedly transformed into a military outpost and interrogation center. Dozens of residents were allegedly detained and interrogated on the spot.

A large-scale arrest campaign was also carried out in several towns and villages in the Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate, targeting dozens of individuals, many of whom were recently released prisoners, including a child. The operation encompassed the al-Jalazone refugee camp, Beitunia, the al-Amari refugee camp, the town of Deir Abu Mash’al, the village of Abu Shkheidim, the town of Ni’lin, the village of Kobar, the town of Aboud, and the villages of al-Mazra’a al-Gharbiya and al-Mazra’a al-Qibliya, accompanied by extensive raids, property damage, and house searches.

In Hebron, Israeli forces detained two residents after raiding their homes in the Abu Halal neighborhood of Dura and the town of Yatta, south of the governorate. The raids reportedly involved property damage.

These operations are part of an ongoing pattern of Israeli military activity in the West Bank.
