Algiers, January 2, 2026 – Algeria is in mourning following the death of Mohamed Harbi, a revered freedom fighter, historian, and writer, who passed away at the age of 93. News of his passing has prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes from across the nation.
Azzouz Nasseri, President of the Council of the Nation, issued a message of condolence to the Harbi family on Friday, acknowledging the immense contribution of the deceased to Algeria’s struggle for independence and the preservation of its national heritage.
