The Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines has issued a statement clarifying the upcoming adjustments to fuel prices across Algeria. These adjustments are slated to take effect on January 1, 2026, and are designed to ensure a consistent supply to the national market while addressing rising production and distribution costs.
According to the Ministry’s statement, the state will continue to absorb a significant portion of the difference between the actual cost of fuel and the price at the pump. This adjustment is being implemented in accordance with existing legislative and regulatory frameworks.
The price changes will be as follows:
- Gasoline: From DZD 45.62/liter to DZD 47/liter (+DZD 1.38)
- Diesel: From DZD 29/liter to DZD 31/liter (+DZD 1.99)
- LPG/C: From DZD 9/liter to DZD 12/liter (+DZD 3)
The Ministry emphasized that this carefully considered adjustment aims to guarantee a continuous supply to the national market, maintain the readiness of refining and distribution facilities, and prevent any future supply disruptions. They also highlighted that ‘Sirghaz’ (LPG) remains the most economical option, costing four times less than gasoline, thus promoting this environmentally and economically sound alternative.
The statement further affirmed that the new prices do not reflect the true cost of the product, with the public treasury continuing to bear the majority of the burden to preserve purchasing power and support economic activities. Revenues generated from these adjustments will be directly reinvested in modernizing service stations, expanding the retail network, and developing storage and distribution activities to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability throughout the country.
