The Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) concluded 2025 with significant operational results, reflecting continuous efforts to protect the country’s security, unity, and stability. The ANP demonstrated high readiness and advanced field professionalism throughout the year.
Counter-Terrorism Successes
In the fight against terrorism, army units achieved notable successes, neutralizing 67 terrorists and apprehending 369 individuals providing support to terrorist groups. Additionally, 12 hideouts used for criminal purposes were discovered and destroyed.
Operations resulted in the recovery of 104 firearms and 13 bombs of various types, along with substantial amounts of ammunition.
Combating Organized Crime
Army units intensified operations to combat smuggling and illicit trafficking networks, particularly those involved in narcotics. These efforts led to the arrest of 2,354 drug traffickers and the thwarting of attempts to smuggle 35 tons of treated cannabis across the western borders. Authorities also seized 934 kg of cocaine and over 40 million psychotropic tablets.
Operations across the country resulted in the arrest of 18,744 individuals and the seizure of 498 firearms and 1,747 vehicles. Equipment used in illegal gold mining was also confiscated, including more than 7,600 jackhammers, 12,574 generators, and 280 metal detectors.
Seizures of Contraband and Goods Intended for Speculation
Competent authorities seized large quantities of goods intended for smuggling and speculation, including over 2.6 million liters of fuel, 1,850 quintals of tobacco, and 1,298 tons of food.
Combating Illegal Immigration
Joint detachments of the ANP apprehended more than 24,000 illegal immigrants of various nationalities across the national territory as part of efforts to combat irregular migration and cross-border crime.
These annual results underscore the Ministry of National Defense’s commitment to maintaining security and stability throughout Algeria.
