Algeria Boasts Among World’s Lowest Fuel Prices

ALGIERS – Algeria ranks among the nations with the lowest fuel prices globally, a new analysis reveals. This advantageous pricing is largely attributed to the substantial subsidies provided by the Algerian government.

According to recent data, the price of gasoline in Algeria is approximately 47 dinars per liter, equivalent to about $0.36 USD. Diesel fuel is priced at 31 dinars per liter, or $0.25 USD, while Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is sold for a mere 12 dinars per liter, translating to $0.09 USD.

The cost of gasoline in Algeria is roughly half the price seen in some other oil-producing nations. For example, in Saudi Arabia, a major oil producer, gasoline sells for $0.621 USD per liter (approximately 79.80 dinars). In Russia, the price is even higher, at $0.834 USD per liter (around 107.1 dinars). The United States sees prices around $0.835 USD per liter (107.30 dinars).

Diesel prices in Algeria are significantly lower compared to many other oil-producing countries. The US sells diesel at $0.925 USD per liter (118.87 dinars), and Russia at $0.951 USD per liter (122.21 dinars).

Even compared to other Arab oil-producing nations, Algeria’s fuel prices remain competitive. Saudi Arabia sells diesel at $0.443 USD per liter (56.93 dinars), and Kuwait at $0.374 USD per liter (48.06 dinars).

Algeria stands out as having the lowest LPG prices worldwide, with prices significantly lower than those in Saudi Arabia ($0.291 USD per liter, or 37.40 dinars) and Russia ($0.366 USD per liter, or 47.03 dinars).

It is worth noting that fuel prices in Algeria experienced a slight adjustment at the beginning of 2026. Gasoline increased from 45.62 dinars per liter to 47 dinars per liter (+1.38 dinars), and diesel rose from 29.01 dinars per liter to 31 dinars per liter.
